LUMICKS is looking for a computer science engineer working student to join us in our Amsterdam office, for at least 2 months full-time. You will set up a prototype database for the data collected with our system acceptance testing program for our optical tweezer microscopes. Our goal is to easily analyze, compare and access the data we have collected, per system or test. You’ll get a clean data set with refined user stories, to answer our top 5 burning questions. You’ll work in the manufacturing team, together with system experts to ensure top-quality systems for our customers.

What are my tasks and responsibilities?

  • Prototype a database for the testing data of our install base;
  • Write python-based database schemas to load into the database;
  • Use coding best practices to ensure readability and usability of the prototype;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders: make sure the product is useful for the users;
  • Create documentation to hand over the prototype when the project is finished;
  • Ensure maintainability of final design of the prototype.

What about my skills & competencies?

  • Bachelor in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field;
  • Advanced SQL Knowledge;
  • Capable of designing a database from scratch;
  • Familiarity in Python;
  • Experience in writing Python-based database schemas, preferably sqlalchemy;
  • GitHub account or similar with some of your work so we can access your coding skills;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Independent and self-starting.
