PRESENTATION TITLE
Proving biological mechanisms through unique insights – from single molecules to condensates and cells
DATE & TIME
Monday, December 4, 3:15pm – 4:00pm
LOCATION
Room 150
PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
Understanding biological processes requires an understanding of the underlying molecular interactions. Only if we can connect the structure and dynamics of biomolecules and biomolecular condensates to their function, can we understand diseases and discover potential cures at the most fundamental level.
Here, we present how an upcoming dynamic single molecule technology – previously only accessible for experts – now gives any scientist the possibility to prove molecular mechanisms by directly quantifying the dynamics of molecular interactions e.g., in the context of DNA-binding proteins, biomolecular condensation, and cell mechanobiology.
We present several examples in which our innovative single-molecule imaging and manipulation tool enhances our understanding of fundamental processes including:
- DNA repair mechanisms and chromatin structure and & dynamics
- Phase separation in biomolecular condensation processes
- The interplay between cell mechanics and intracellular pathways
Join us on a journey from single molecules to whole cells and explore the possibilities of a tool that allows you to take control over individual molecular components and directly observe molecular interactions in real-time!
