Sr. Manager, Field Application Scientist – Cell avidity

Introduction

The Sr. Manager, Field Application Scientist is a leadership position within the cell avidity – America’s customer success (CA-CS) team, reporting to the cell avidity Commercial Director, and will lead a team of field application scientists (FAS) that play an essential role on the cell avidity customer success team. The role will be approximately 90% management and 10% direct applications support and have responsibility for hiring, development, and promotion within the team.

What are my tasks & responsibilities?

  • Hiring: Interviewing, selecting, training, and performance managing employees.
  • Directing and/or apportioning the work of employees including assessing regional coverage gaps/needs, resolving schedule conflicts, and ensuring timely customer training.
  • Supporting FAS Team members in their presentations at trade shows, seminars, and customer meetings.
  • Monitoring and reporting on key performance indicator (KPI) metrics and initiating process improvement plans as necessary.
  • Acting as an escalation path for issues related to the user’s technical skills, biochemistry/assay design, experimental design, software, and instruments.
  • Keeping the FAS regional team members appraised of the support strategy and activities.
  • Developing organizational growth strategies, assessing needed skill sets and competencies, and plans to acquire them.
  • Sensing the market, customer, and team feedback and reporting to global R&D and product leadership
  • Organize scientific demonstrations and experiments with z-Movi and support discussion and interpretation of results by integrating with different types of biological assays. 
  • Support development of marketing materials including brochures, application notes, product datasheets, and technical presentations.

What about my skills & competencies?

  • Typically, a PhD in Cell Biology or Immunology with a focus in cell therapy, immuno-oncology, or a similar discipline.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience leading a Field Applications group in a relevant technical environment (Cell Sorting, Cell Assay workflows, CAR-T cell development).
  • Extensive experience with biological applications and immunological techniques such as assay preparation, cell handling (such as cell culturing), flow cytometry, and microscopy. 
  • Strong compassionate leadership with a focus on excellence in team performance and individual development.
  • Excellent, enthusiastic, clear communication skills with a diverse audience are critical.
  • Willingness to travel both within the continent as well as globally and possession of a valid passport.
  • Travel indication: up to 50%.
