Introduction
As a Product Engineer Dynamic Single-Molecule (DSM) you will be involved in designing products and their corresponding manufacturing processes. You also will be responsible for transitioning the product from design to manufacturing at scale. The Product Engineer is an important stakeholder for the R&D development team and also for the manufacturing team. Furthermore, the Product Engineer is the interface to the suppliers of the critical (optical, mechanical and electrical) components of the C-trap and m-Trap.
The Product Engineer is involved in the entire lifecycle of product development – from planning, designing, and selection of materials, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing. Within LUMICKS the Product Engineer has to design & build the product in a cost-effective manner without compromising on the quality

What are my tasks & responsibilities?
- Define manufacturing requirements for new product development
- Define manufacturing processes that are needed to make sure the product is manufactured in the right way
- Have in-depth technical discussions with all relevant stakeholders, both internally and externally (suppliers)
- Steer the test specifications at the suppliers
- Interfaces with the suppliers for critical issues
- Owns the responsibility of managing second suppliers and EOL of (electronic) subcomponents
- Makes sure that the proper documentation is available for Manufacturing
What about my skills & competencies?
- Good understanding of CAD drawings
- Background in Mechatronics, Optics, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineer: PhD or MSc
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a High Tech manufacturing environment (big plus: Low Quantity, High Quality)
- Good understanding of the process and product improvement and the hand-over to manufacturing
- You must have good analytical troubleshooting skills
- Assertive, team player and an international mindset
- Ability to work independently and accurately under strict deadlines
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication/project management skills
- Fluency in both English and Dutch
- A flexible and energetic person, hands-on mentality
- Enthusiasm and a professional attitude are also key to this position
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
