Payroll specialist

LUMICKS is looking for Payroll Specialist for our office in Amsterdam. You will get an unique opportunity to be closely involved in the payroll and accounting process of a rapid growing international business. You will work in the Shared Services department and work closely together with the other Shared Services teams and the HR teams. Together with HR, you are responsible for the Payroll process and the further improvement of the internal control environment. You will be an important player in the team, and will report to the Senior Manager Shared Services. You have an important role to timely complete payment runs, control payroll processing, and payroll related accounting, and continues improvement of the payroll process. To be successful in this role we ask from you to have an eye for detail and experience in accounting, a plus would be specific experience in the payroll process. You are driven in delivering the best and most efficient result resulting in happy internal and external customers.

What are my tasks & responsibilities?

  • Maintaining payroll information for the Netherlands office and foreign employees of our global legal entities by collating, calculating and entering data;
  • Liaise with the HR department and assist in payroll related matters such as 30% rulings, social security matters in employee benefits;
  • Gather periodic payroll information to ensure accurate monthly payroll reporting as part of the Lumicks global month-end closing process;
  • Updating payroll records by entering any changes to employee information or benefits such as job title changes, exemptions and saving deductions;
  • Preparing reports that include summaries of earnings, tax deductions, leave, compassionate leave and non-taxable wages;
  • Calculating payroll liabilities by determining employee taxes, including federal and state income and social security tax, and calculating employer’s payments for social security, unemployment and worker’s compensation;
  • Coordinate Bonus and commission and other payroll related accruals and payments
  • Liaise with outside payroll processing agencies;
  • Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering any employee payroll queries;
  • Maintaining all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures;
  • In general responding to all payroll enquiries regarding finance;
  • Preparing analyses of accounts and producing monthly reports;
  • Continuing to improve the payroll process.

What are my skills & competencies?

  • Understanding of the Payroll process in an international environment;
  • Assertive, team player and an international mindset;
  • Ability to work independently and accurately under strict deadlines;
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Fluency in English and Dutch (required);
  • Flexible and energetic person, hands on mentality with an eye for detail;
  • Enthusiasm and a professional attitude are also key to this position;
  • A good general knowledge of MS Office is essential, especially Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Experience with Exact Online or similar financial reporting package is a plus;
  • Experience with BambooHR is a plus;
  • Ideally you have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
