Machine Learning Engineer

Introduction

As a Medior/Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will join the Data Analysis team within the Cell Avidity (CA) R&D division at LUMICKS. You will work on new machine-learning-powered features of the current Z-Movi®, future prototypes and products, and you will have the unique opportunity to grow the products to their full potential.

Together with the rest of the Data Analysis team, you will have a chance to define, iterate and deliver machine learning models which have the potential to make a true impact on cancer research. Your focus will be on delivering state of the art automated cell analysis algorithms exploiting very large amounts of data and the latest deep learning models. You will work together with the software development team to bring models to production. You will also work closely with our agile interdisciplinary engineering teams and applications scientists to define new ways to efficiently collect data to train models with.

What are my tasks & responsibilities?

  • Work with the customer success and product management teams to identify new opportunities for ML-powered features and accurately scope the requirements to meet to deliver value
  • Deliver continuous improvements to existing ML models by iterating both on data and models/architectures
  • Get familiar with our existing data versioning and ML training infrastructure, based on Dolthub, Pytorch Lightning and Neptune.ai, and contribute to both maintaining and extending it
  • Rapidly prototype promising methods and bring them to production when they demonstrate the provable value
  • Work with other engineering teams to identify, test and refine creative strategies to collect large amounts of data requiring the least amount of human supervision
  • Work with the software development team to incorporate in the production software stack the models meeting the required level of performance, and help optimize the existing hardware

What about my skills & competencies?

  • 3-5 years of experience working as a machine learning engineer or backend engineer focused on ML systems
  • Track record of delivering value with ML in production
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in ML/AI/CS or similar
  • Strong engineering skills in Python
  • Proven experience with Python ML frameworks (PyTorch but experience with Tensorflow is acceptable)
  • Hands-on experience in managing deployments to AWS
  • Familiarity with optimized ML runtimes such as TensorRT, Onnx is a plus
  • Enjoy working in an agile team that is passionate about machine learning, computer vision, and technology.
  • Want to make an excellent product, like to work in a dynamic environment, and have the right getting-things-done mentality to meet occasional demanding deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
