IT Support Engineer

LUMICKS is the leading supplier of high-tech biotechnology analysis instruments. Our instruments allow researchers to build the crucial and yet unfinished bridge between structure and function at both a molecular and a cellular level.

As part of our new Global IT team, we are looking for an ICT Support Engineer to be based at our head office in Amsterdam. We are a young, tech-savvy team, and value giving our staff significant freedom and ownership. You will provide hands-on assistance to our engineers, scientists, and staff, helping them to stay productive with our IT tooling while keeping our data safe.

You are a multi-skilled engineer and a key member of our ICT Team. As the first point of contact, you will work closely with internal business users. You are responsible for provisioning and resolving a wide range of desktop hardware and application-related support issues. You will onboard, troubleshoot, support, maintain and resolve requests. As a Cloud-first company, with openness, and freedom as part of our core IT values you will support a multi-operating systems desktop and SaaS landscape; ensuring that systems are secure, fully operational, and in alignment with our IT strategy and operational agreements.

What are my tasks & responsibilities?

  • Respond to incident & service requests in a timely manner, providing a professional first-rate service for our colleagues at our global offices and in the field.
  • Provide desktop support, resolve infrastructure, network, application issues and other IT related issues to ensure that systems are working and available.
  • IT procurement, asset management, provisioning and configuring equipment such as hardware, laptops, printers, mobile devices, audio visual equipment, peripherals, and business applications.
  • Proactively monitor the IT infrastructure and applications landscape.
  • Workspace management, onboarding/offboarding, software installations, configuration, user account management and role provisioning.
  • Proactively, track and manage ServiceDesk tickets to resolution. Build and maintain a solutions knowledge base and reporting.
  • Complete IT related operational tasks by following policies & procedures utilising industry best security practices.
  • Coordinate & escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate teams, and IT partners as required.
  • Continuously improve the IT Service provided, including automation, reduce total cost of ownership and make recommendations to management.
  • Share and radiate knowledge to support the user community and update the intranet as required.
  • Aid and cover for other team members, business projects and complete other tasks as assigned from time to time.

  • 5 years minimum hands-on work experience in a technical IT support role.
  • Good knowledge of desktop hardware and networking, with all O/S (Windows, Mac, Linux).
  • Experience of Azure AD, Exchange, SharePoint, O365.
  • Knowledge with Autopilot, MDM, Atlassian and other SaaS applications.
  • Ability to think critically, to troubleshoot hardware, networking, and application issues.
  • Strong people skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Dutch.
  • Keep up to date with Information technology & have a security first focus.
  • Knowledge of automation/scripting languages such as PowerShell is desirable
  • Available 40 hours per week and flexibility as role may require occasional evening/weekend work.
