LUMICKS is proud to announce the installation of an m-Trap™ at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in the lab of Assistant Professor Jinqing Huang.

Dr. Huang will be combining the m-Trap™ with Raman Spectroscopy to investigate the structure and dynamics of proteins, in real-time with high resolution and stability. This combination will allow her group to correlate protein structures with protein (un)folding patterns. According to Dr. Huang, the advantage of single-molecule manipulation and spectroscopy is that they eliminate the need for ensemble averaging and enable the tracking of rare events. This allows for a direct detection of molecular forces and distances and a clear observation of molecular structures, which is not possible using ensemble averaging experiments.
