CTFM Results on RAD51 Appear in PNAS

In a recent publication, Correlative Tweezers-Fluorescence Microscopy was used to reveal a fundamental step in one of the most crucial biological process that occur in a cell: DNA repair. The article appeared in the renowned journal PNAS, and was portrayed on the Dutch newspaper Bionieuws. In their work, VU researchers were able to isolate and visualize a fundamental step of DNA repair in real-time. For the first time a live observation of the actual genetic repair processes was obtained. The authors of the publication consider this result a stepping stone towards the full understanding of the molecular mechanism of the process that accomplishes DNA repair.
